Hello!
I want to simulate a generator circuit breaker and its impact on a multi turn winding synchronous generator. This is a real case so I have access to most of the datasheets for the components. This is a generator located in a hydropower plant. The circuit can be described as:
Transmission lines -> switchgear including transformer -> cables into the indoor station -> generator switchgear including circuit breaker -> cables -> generator.
For now I am not interested in the lighting surges that may come from the outside, just the switching overvoltages from the breaker. The purpose of the simulation is to investigate if there is a risk of breakdown of the insulation between the turns of the generator winding. I am not so used to the SIMULINK software so I appreciate some guidelines of how to approach this problem. I have some questions but appreciated all inputs.
- Which components do I need to take into account? I suppose I want the nominal voltage connected to the circuit in some way, but do I need the transformer and all that stuff when I am interested in what happens to the generator?
- How do I model the generator? Should it be a source or a load in this case?
Best regards
