Hi,
If you just want to plot in a new figure, you need to create a figure like this :
h=figure('Name','Plot','NumberTitle','off');
Then you can use the plot function.

Then you need to use the image function. For exemple if your image is a .png file :
figure ('Name','Image','NumberTitle','off');
img=imread('image.png');
image(img);
axis off;
