S-function Matlab level I

Hi,
I am really new to matlab s-function I want to know How does the s-function matlab operate and go through the cases. I want to know the concept behind each execution step in particular (mdlupdate function). Thanks!!

Check out the documentation on How S-functions Work - this should serve as a good primer on how/when all the different S-function methods are called. Btw, Level-1 S-functions are now obsolete and only exist for backward compatibility, so if you're writing a new S-function, you should probably do it with Level-2 S-functions.
