Datetime command not working as specified

I have the code
CurDate = datetime('now','format', 'dd/MM/yyyy')
prior to calling CurDate the value shows 26/05/2016
When I call it to change to a string I get the time as well.
Can I stop this from happening?

What is it that shows the time as well?
When I try the code you show, CurDate always shows just the date.
