Creating New variables each loop.

I have a program where each time the loop runs a column of readings are acquired. I want to create a label for each column separately , by the name of the column which is read while executing the loop. So I want to basically open a variable with that column name.
For example if the current column name is "star_gh" , I want to open a variable with name -->star_gh and save the columns values in that. Would using the function 'genvarname()' help?? If possible can I get a example or a function?
