magnetic lasso tool function for matlab

I want to segment the irregular shape of a region for image analysis. Edge detection does not work well with my image due to the reason that the region that i need is not connected completely . I suppose magnetic lasso tool from photoshop can help me in this case. How to get that tool function to solve my problem?
