Implementing Sparkfun VL6180X Sensor in Simulink?

Hello, I'm trying to use the Sparkfun Sensor VL6180 in my Simulink Code to run it with the Arduino Uno Hardware. So far I tried the DriversGuide to build a S-Function Block based on the working Arduino-Code which is published by SparkFun on GitHub, but it doesn't work with Simulink. I also tried the Arduino I2C-read Block of the Hardware-Support-Package in Simulink, but didn't work either. Is there anybody who uses the Sensor or something simular in Simulink and could help me out?

It is my understanding that you are trying to communicate with a Sparkfun Sensor connected to an Arduino Uno via Simulink.
Refer to the MATLAB File Exchange package that guides with steps to build a device driver block to perform target-specific functions using the Arduino as the hardware platform.
