problems with ncread over OPeNDAP

Hi there - I'm using ncread (R2016b) to read data from an OPeNDAP server. It works ok for awhile, but then stalls - doesn't stop and produce an error, just hangs. I suspect it's network or server related, but how do I 1. Get more information about what ncread is doing? i.e., is there a verbose mode that can output low-level activity? 2. Add some kind of timeout condition so that I can treat it as a catchable error and deal with it somehow?
