how to split a column into many equal columns

dear
I have a column of say 200x2 and I need to split into four columns of 50x2 to create a matrix size 50x8. I need to write it in general because I have many cases like a column of 1000x2 and so on. can anyone give me an idea.

Try this:
newMatrix = reshape(originalMatrix, [], desiredNumberOfColumns);
