trying to use live editor for the first time. Live editor does not run. Any special setups needed to run codes??

Run how? You need a file of code (or create a new empty file) for it to open in the first place.

I understand that you are trying to use the Live Editor for the first time.
No it does not requires any additional setups to run codes. These are similar to normal editors but with extra features. Live scripts are program files that contain your code, output, and formatted text together in a single interactive environment called the Live Editor. In live scripts, you can write your code and view the generated output and graphics along with the code that produced it. Add formatted text, images, hyperlinks, and equations to create an interactive narrative that you can share with others.
