Hi, I am new to Matlab and wanna know your opinions and suggestions.

I want to filter the signal received by my underwater microphone so i can eliminate signal except signal within my desired frequency range only and display it in real time, so that i know whether there is signal of desired freq received on my microphone or not from time to time. (in stead of using analogue filtering circuit)

can this be done using MATLAB. What functions should i use or do you all have any reference, sample, for me to look up ?

ps: we have a pc-based oscilloscope (picoscope) so im writing matlab code using library provided by the software development kit given by that oscilloscope company to get data from received signal. (hardware not supported by matlab). this doesnt work out well so im looking for alternative.

What OS are you using? What type of input hardware are you using (is it a USB microphone, a soundcard, a dedicated AD card)? What sample rate will the hardware be running at? How much latency can you tolerate and how frequently can frames be dropped?
