Sharing Simulink ConfigSet between models with different sample times

I am trying to share ConfigSet between several models using ConfigSetReference to manage their settings globally. The only difference in configuration of the models is sample time. For constant sample times I have managed to solve this problem by setting the "FixedStep" property to function "foo(gcs)" which returns different sample time for every model. The problem is that I need to set sample time property to 'auto' for some of the models. (They are called from inside of function call-subsystem). Is there any way to achieve this?
