Phase and Frequency offsets relationship

Hi all,

I am reading this example QPSK Transmitter and Receiver. Firstly, in the Coarse frequency compensation block, it coarsely offsets the frequency offset. In the Fine frequency compensation block, it does the Phase compensation and said: "...the compensating phase that offsets the residual frequency and phase offsets".

So it makes me think if I want to offset the frequency offset, I just compensate the phase offset or if I want to compensate the phase offset, just compensate the frequency offset. I search some website and it said the integral of the frequency shift about time is the total phase shift.

But the comm.PhaseFrequencyOffset object makes me confuse when I can add phase offset and frequency offset independently.

Can you explain it or show me some papers?
