Black screen after figure minimisation in R2016b running on OSX SIerra.

I have just updated to OSX Sierra, and then installed R2016b. Now, after closing a previously maximised figure, the desktop becomes black and all other windows (eg, Chrome, or the matlab editor), disappear. I need to close matlab for them to become visible, and its quite annoying. Are other people having the same problem?. Thanks!
