I work at an eye clinic where i ran some electrophysiological examinations. The output data could be exported and viewed in matlab. Now I want make a list of my patients with their info, and be able to search and open a certain examination for a certain patient. How and where to start? thanks in advance

I think you need the MARLAB gui development environment to build the gui.
Rest of the coding will be simple..

You may want to use Database Toolbox in combination with creating a graphical user interface (GUI). If the "database" is just for you and can be as simple as a MS Excel spreadsheeet, you alre probably fine with commands like XLSREAD and XLSWRITE, but if you like to access a real database, then have a look at the toolbox.
