Problem with integration.

When I asked matlab to make this integration,
syms x
int(cos(x)^2/(sqrt(1+a*cos(x))+sqrt(1-a*cos(x))), 0, pi/2)
I got nothing without any error! I tried to define "a" as any constant but also I got nothing! Could you please help me?

Try whether integration becomes easier if you write your function as
cos(x)*(sqrt(1+a*cos(x))-sqrt(1-a*cos(x)))/(2*a)
