mapreduce for text fie processing

Hi all, currently i am working on a project where i have to process lots of text files and extract the required information. I thought mapreduce would be a better option which would take somewhat less time as compared to normal file processing in matlab but it is taking somewhat more time. I am not sure if Parallel computing toolbox would help here.
