I have an mfile that accesses a dll library. The dll was written outside of Matlab. I would like to generate an executable exe file for my mfile. To do this I know I need Matlab Compiler, but do I also need Matlab Compiler SDK? This will help me figure out the toolbox(es) I have to purchase for this task.

No, I don't believe so. I access DLLs in compiled apps without the SDK.
