What is appplication of matlab in electrical engineering?

I am a student pursuing B.Tech in electrical engineering and I have been recommended to learn matlab . But I am unable to get the applications of matlab in my course. Please guide me about this topic and recommend some sources for learning Matlab and Simulink.

MATLAB is a very useful tool in electrical engineering. It's widely used in applications like signal processing, control systems, and analyzing circuits.
Simulink, an extension of MATLAB, offers a graphical environment for modeling and simulating dynamic systems.
Additionally, Simscape, built on top of Simulink, enables the modeling and simulation of physical systems. For instance, you can explore modeling a DC motor using Simscape through this example
