Matlab R2017b freezes during Initialization

Dear all,
I have recently installed a R2017b x64 version on Windows 10 and when I open the executable I get the Matlab splash logo that stays on screen a couple of minutes (longer than it should) and when the main windows finally appears, the program is stuck in the "Initialization" stage (the ">>" characters do not appear) and in TaskManger the process seems to be idle. I have tried the solution proposed in another post (preference files, MS Visual C++ 2010, Java, LM_LICENSE_FILE, etc.), but so far I had no success.
Does anybody have another idea?

I have the same problem with 2017b, although 2017a trial version worked fine. Would be very grateful for a response.
