Improving matlab skills

What is the best way of improving my matlab skills? I have been using matlab for some months now and have learnt a lot in that time, however I am wondering what techniques others have used to improve. I find that trying to answer questions on the forum is good practice but it is often the case that the questions posted are beyond my capabilities.
Any suggestions?

Agreed that Cody is not a good place to learn good programming practice. But one can learn MATLAB "skills", particularly new functions that one might not know exists.
