Git Source control - .SimulinkProject folder necessary

Hello,

I have a Simulink Projecton under Git source control including the .prj file. When I checkout the whole project on another machine it cannot be opened again. It only works when I include the whole content of the ".SimulinkProject" Folder to git. This is somehow not a very intuitive method doing it especially when the project is growing.

Am I doing something wrong or is this the way it is intended to work.
