MATLAB slow start

MATLAB takes a long time to start. I am using 2012a on a mac book pro with Lion 10.7.3 and 8GB of RAM

  2. Second reason can be that the default directory may contains large number of files. Just to try, from command line go to some empty directory and then type matlab and see the loading time.
