I have a png file I want to display and a pushbutton but I can't figure out how to make the push button the size of the image.

yes, all it does is resize the image to the button. I want the button to resize to the image.

Why not just make your button the biggest size you ever expect to have? Otherwise if you resize, your button may obscure other controls on your GUI.

okay, but how do you set the button size?

Set the Position property. Easily done if you're using GUIDE. You can just click and drag the handles to make it whatever size you want or to have it be in a different location. See the tutorial:
