Using load and save functions?

Hi there. I'm trying to load a .dat file with a column of numbers that need to be rounded, and saved into another .dat file. Here is my code:

    clc
    clear all 
    load('test_in.dat')
    round(test_in)
   save('test_out.dat')

Is this a practical way of achieving this, or is there a more better way of going about this? Can anyone help out?
