MATLAB does not open from command prompt

MATLAB opens when I type "matlab" in the terminal but when I type the same in Alt+F2 command prompt the MATLAB loading screen appears for a while but then automatically disappears. Why is this happening? What is the solution?

I understand that matlab is not recognized or the path for 'matlab' variable is not specified correctly
You need to specify the correct environment variable
Set environment variable
