I want to simulate failure data for exponential distribution and also find Maximum likelihood estimation.. What are the commands that are can be used?

The Statistics Toolbox has exprnd and expfit. In fact, you could do this without that toolbox pretty easily as well. Please let us know what you have tried and somebody will probably try to help you out.
