Using matlab to build face recognition

Hi, I am newbie in MATLAB and i would like to do a face recognition in my final year project. Is it possible to use a webcam to analysis eyes and also nose to compare the database whether it is matched or not? Or have any better suggestions ? This is because I don't have any idea to start it. Thanks
