How to plot a multi colour line, which depends on the value of parameter (on the world map)

I have the map of the Atlantic ocean and ploted the track lines of the Extratropical cyclones(with using linem()) on there. I have the database - identification number of cyclone, coordinates for all lifecycle AND the speed of wind for all coordinates. I need to redraw my cyclones track lines not with just one colour, but each line of the track to do multi - colour with the colour, which depends on the value of wind speed in the cyclone (like the multi-colour cyclone tracks on the picture at the bottom). Please, help, how I can do it...
