Trouble getting a variable from a netcdf file

Hello, I have a netcdf file that reads like this when i display it:

ncdisp(filename)

Dimensions:
           number_data_sets  = 299

I left out the md5sum because it took up space. Anyway the the datasets,pixels, and scan_lines are actually structures that contain variables inside of them. Any idea on how to get matlab to read the variables from these structures.
