wavelet level criteria decision

Hi,
I am using 'db' wavelets to reduce noise. As I know, at most, higher level wavelet processing reduces noise better. but how to decide wavelet level dynamically to get best SNR(comparing a threshold in time or frequency or acc. to a statistics) ?
