Changing array size with for-loops and interp1()

Hi!
I want to use for-loops and interpolation to change the array size. For example, I imported a picture into MATLAB that has an array of 512x512, and I want to change both the columns and rows so that the image size increase. Let's say I want to double the size of the picture so that the array would look something like 1024x1024. Please help, I am not sure how and where exactly should I start the code.
