I need to activate Matlab on my Laptop, but Matlab activation has broken itself.

I have a valid Matlab license, and I have Matlab installed on both my desktop and my laptop. On my desktop, I have both Windows and Linux, with Matlab installed on both operating systems. Switching activation has been a hassle, but I've dealt with it. I also changed from Windows 7 to Windows 10 at the same time I upgraded my hard drive from an HDD to a SSD. Now, I'm in a dorm for the Summer, and so I just have my laptop, which has had the same installation of Matlab on it for a while now. I had to upgrade to r2018a to support the files I was working on my department. I uninstalled r2017b and installed r2018a, thinking that it would be an easy upgrade, but now my laptop is getting the Error 354: No more machine transfers are available. This is not a new machine, less than a half an hour ago, I had a working version of Matlab on the same computer with all else held constant. I checked MathWorks activations online, to which it says that only my desktop was ever activated. This is extremely frustrating, as I need Matlab to work.

Hm? You have 2 computers - desktop and laptop, and you have 1 license? Some license can be used per user login, and some license are per computer. This is a public forum so we can't really help you resolve that matter. You'll have to contact MathWorks to get this resolved.

This error indicates that you have exceeded the yearly amount of computer redesignations for your license. In other words, you have a limited amount of times you can move your licence from one machine to another, and you've used yours up for the moment. You should contact Mathworks Support. They'll either tell you that you need to get a new licence or they can fix it for you depending on your situation. Best to talk to them.
