Is Matlab/Simulink and other toolboxes compatibility with 4K display?

2 次查看(过去 30 天)
Hi, I am planning to buy a laptop to run Matlab/Simulink + toolboxes. Will there be compatibility issues if the screen is 4K (either under Windows 10 or Ubuntu Linux)? Will there be scaling issues?

There will be scaling issues for Linux.
"Graphical elements appear sharp and consistent in size on these high-DPI systems:
Windows® systems in which the display dots-per-inch (DPI) value is set higher than 96
Macintosh systems with Apple Retina displays
DPI-aware behavior does not apply to Linux® systems."
Historically, Simulink lagged behind on high dpi font usage; I am not sure if that has been completely fixed yet.

Thanks. Am I correct that if I run Matlab/Simulink + Toolboxes under Windows 10, there will be no scaling issues with on laptops with 4K display?
Will scaling issues under Linux be fixed in the near future?

I would not rule out the possibility that some of the toolboxes are not completely high DPI aware on Windows -- for example I would hesitate to promise it for Polyspace based toolboxes.

I do not know.
I would tend to think that the fragmenting of the Linux market is proving to be difficult for Mathworks to keep up with. There have been a lot of problems with library compatibility over the last couple of releases. That might force Mathworks to focus on one or at most two flavors of Linux and let the rest go. Because Mathworks needs to make business decisions, they would go with the most popular release for larger businesses that use their products, rather than the most popular release for smaller organizations and individuals. I suspect that might mean choosing Red Hat and letting the others go, even though I see very few users posting about Red Hat and many more posting about Ubuntu.
