Is it possible to optimize simulink parameters?

Is it possible to optimise Simulink parameters in a defined range considering a calculated value as a cost function which is dependant on the optimization parameters? (let's say using fmincon for example)- the value for the parameters should be updated in each step.

I'm not an expert on Simulink®, but there are some examples in Optimization Toolbox™ documentation that use Simulink, and maybe you can figure out how to do what you want from them:
