Here's that section of the code
h0 = 0.86192;
h1_m = 1/4;
h1_e = 1/3;
H_F_m = vartest2(h0,h1_m);
H_F_e = vartest2(h0,h1_e);
When displaying both H_F_m and H_F_e I get a NaN.
