Matlab is not properly working on Macbook (MacOS Sierra)

Hi
I am trying to transit my work from Windows pc to Macbook.
The problem is that in my Macbook, the folder that Matlab "sees" is appearing dim and semi-transparent without letting me do anything. Not even imshow an image, althought the image is in the folder, I get the error
Error using images.internal.getImageFromFile (line 13)
Cannot find the specified file: "3d3.jpg".
Error in images.internal.imageDisplayParseInputs (line 74)
images.internal.getImageFromFile(common_args.Filename);
Error in imshow (line 245)
images.internal.imageDisplayParseInputs({'Parent','Border','Reduce'},preparsed_varargin{:});
Any idea why this might happens?
I also get an "Out of Space" label underneath the folder and documents just because I don't have enough free space in my icloud account. But that does not have anything to do, with my hard drive in Mac as it is literally Empty.

On the desktop -- so this is something in your Sierra, not a MATLAB issue ?
