Animating a line (arrow)

Hello,
I am new to matlab and trying to animate an arrow by running it in a 'for' loop. Arrow being a line with start and end co-ordinates mentioned and the co-ordinates of end point being a variable in the for loop. While doing so the images overlap each other rather than clearing the previous one. I tried using 'clear figure (clf)' at the end of the loop and it works, but gives a blank figure in the end which is something that I am trying to avoid. Is there a way to deal with it without the use of clf?
