Optimizing nonlinear functions with size variant input arguments

I am trying to use the fminsearch() function to create the optimization and I am getting the following error: "Assignment has more non-singleton rhs dimensions than non-singleton subscripts". Does anyone know what could be causing such an error?

That error would happen if your objective function returns a non-scalar.
