How to view console output of compiled Windows application?

I have a compiled Matlab application created for MCR 9.3 on Windows. When I run the executable from the command line, I get all the console output (fprintf's, etc.) as expected. However, when I simply double-click the executable in File Explorer there isn't a console window that pops up so I can't see that output.
Is there a way to force the executable to open up a terminal to display stdout for the compiled executable, even when not run from the command line?
