filling a vector for a given interval

hi guys,
i am working on the 1D heat equation and im trying to make my initial conditions take the value 1 from l/4<x<3*l*/4 but when i do that it doesn't work as i want
if someone could help me.

krayem - please clarify what you mean by that it doesn't work as i want. Are you observing an error? Or are you just not getting the result that you expect?

krayem - what do you mean by that it doesn't work from 1/4 to 3/4? You get the wrong result or it doesn't iterate over these values?
