Random value generation in simscape component

I have a intermediates section in my simscape component code where I define a variable. I would like the variable to be assigned randomly with a normrnd function or rand function, however I keep getting errors that say "Invalid use of a MATLAB function in this context." Is there a workaround to allow for randomly generated values?
