If I have the student version 2009a of Matlab for mac OSX, is the image acquisition toolbox available for me to add on?

Mathworks only sells the last two releases of Student Version toolboxes (i.e., R2011a and R2012a at this time.) After that time the expectation is that you will upgrade to a newer MATLAB if you need the toolbox.

The Image Acquisition toolbox is available for R2011a Student Version and R2012a Student Version; see http://www.mathworks.com/academia/student_version/companion.html
