Alternatives to the Sensor Fusion and Tracking Toolbox

I would like to use a toolbox or library similar to the Sensor Fusion and Tracking Toolbox for research and prototyping purposes. However, since there is a restriction on students, there's little chance for me to access this toolbox conventionally.
While I am curious as to why the toolbox is inaccessible to somebody like me (I am an undergraduate electrical engineering major at UCLA), I would love to find an alternative solution to the toolbox so that I can get to work.
Sure, I can implement EKF's, MAP, and optimization problems all day (feel free to throw related jargon around). But is there a nice convenient library I can access so I don't gotta research, guess, and reproduce all this stuff myself? Do I just find a different program or medium to give me the same results? I'm looking at the Madgwick algorithm, but I don't know if this gives me all which I want.
I want to track kinematic data for deep learning gesture recognition, from IMU's found in conventional smart devices like Apple Watches.

There are seldom undergrad courses that deal with those topics, it seems to me. The student license is restricted to use with assignments or other related needed to complete a degree, and is not licensed for private research into topics of interest.
In cases where a student has a special interest or has a final year project that goes beyond the restrictions of the student license, then the typical approach would be to work with a prof or advisor who would obtain access to an Educational license. Education licenses can be used by students if they are given access to them, for research and for internal needs of the university.
