Surface Area an Enclosed Curve on an Artificial Cone

I have 500 points (X,Y,Z) that descripe a closed curve which fall into a conical shape. How can I compute the surface area within that closed curve? Not that the area is not planar. I will probably need to triangulate and but is there any matlab function that can do the job?
