Is there anyway to add incremental learning to image recognition?

As of right now I do not have enough samples to develop a robust detection tool that could spot objects in an image. Instead I would like to incrementally develop a detection tool based on user defined areas as the program goes along. Is this possible?

Have you tried adapt for incremental learning. Refer the following links
