segmentation of 3D objects

I am trying to segment 3D objects (bright blobs) in the attached images; volume image consisting of slices. The images have lot of noise. I subtracted the background, enhanced contrast using non linear intensity transfer function. But the objects appear to be connected in the y-z and z-x plane (imaging plane is x-y) ,which makes 3D segemntation difficult. Any help will be much appreciated.
