Does Matlab have a automatic causal filter optimizer program?
Example: run program for 10 selected Matlab filters from the Matlab filter list and the program then selects which filter had the tightest and most accurate fit to the data.
I know Tradestation has this function for filtering multiple indicators for buy/sell signal optimization.

There is the Curve Fitting Toolbox; possibly you could use some of its facilities.
