restful request with persistent authentification

Hi,
I use webread to do webrequest on a RESTful api service without trouble. But I'd like to make a persistent connection.
Found this thread from 2015 saying it is not possible. Do recent version allow it? (>R2018)
I found the following info too https://www.mathworks.com/help/matlab/matlab_external/send-http-message.html , but I didn't find a way to use it to make RESTful query.
