i have lambda=0.1 so in exprnd(mu) do i have to put 0.1 or 1/0.1?

mu is a mean value...you substitue your mean value what you have.

The pdf of exponential distribution is defined as
. However, MATLAB defines it in term of its mean value μ as shown here: https://www.mathworks.com/help/releases/R2020a/stats/exponential-distribution.html#brn2ivz-25. If you are given value of λ then you can first convert into μ using 
and then call exprnd.
